Bird Sanctuaries and Architecture

Have you ever been to a bird sanctuary? One where you can pet and hold them? I got to experience my first time in one and lemme tell you…it’s actually kinda scary. Don’t let their beauty fool you, these birds are quite finicky to say the least. You go up to one as calmly as possible, offer your arm, attempt to pet them, and you get a beak goin for your arm instead. Yeah, I was NOT calm at all. Those beaks look like scythes. THEN what makes it even worse is, a few minutes later you see some other person will approach the same bird, and they somehow managed to pirch it on their arm.

Now don’t get me wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed the sanctuary and managed to pet some (or ONE) successfully! They’re beautiful birds and more entertaining than anything. All along we had sirens and “peek-a-boos” squawked throughout. They would whistle, sing, say their names, it was great. Tyler managed to hold a few but most decided to peck and refuse him.

So will I ever get a bird after this experience? Probably not. Would I go to a bird sanctuary again in the future? Absolutely.

Pieology. Possibly my favorite pizza eatery ever. It’s like a Chipotle/Moe’s/Subway but for pizza. You ask what you want on it, they pop it in the oven, and it comes out delicious. And yes we each finished our pizza.

Oh Balboa Park. What a beauty. If you enjoy architecture, history, plants and music, you’ve got to check it out.

closed Spanish Village
too bad the Spanish Village was closed

too bad it was closed that day

pillars to a lawn sculpture
my lovely sister under the massive pillars that led to a little lawn with abstract sculptures

After our disappointment in missing out on the greenhouse, we still found beautiful gardens in the park. Multiple hummingbirds zoomed from flower to flower, lizards scurrying from hedge to hedge, and multiple pictures taken from every possible angle.

the lizard was evidently more fascinating than the garden! haha

Globe Theater Replica
some may find this as cool as I did, this is a replica of Shakespeare’s Globe Theater!
magicians and musicians lined the pathways throughout the park

I mean, we should all take the time to appreciate this architecture…
